DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — On Wednesday morning in Delaware County, a house fire that was probably started by a lightning strike was avoided by a family of three, according to fire officials.

Just after 4:30 in the morning, firefighters were summoned to a house on Fair Oaks Drive in Liberty Township due to a report of a fire. It was possible to see flames emerging from the attic.

The three occupants of the house, according to the Liberty Township Fire Department, managed to safely elude capture. There were no reported injuries.

Fire officials think lightning struck the home’s front right side. The official cause of the fire is the subject of an investigation.
