Shocking:Mother kills her 3-year-old granddaughter by beating her in Anambra

Awka— The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has detained Chinelo Udeogu, 37, in Anambra for allegedly killing her three-year-old granddaughter by beating her.

The suspect was detained in Awka as a result of a warning from the officials of the victim’s school, according to a statement made yesterday in Awka by Mr. Anthony Okafor, the NAPTIP spokesperson in Anambra.

The suspect, Chinelo Udeogu, was detained by NAPTIP agents in a primary school in Awka, where the victim had previously been enrolled and she had gone to retrieve the school fees she had paid for her.

She responded that the victim had passed away when questioned about the victim’s whereabouts. She reported that her granddaughter, the deceased victim, was three years old.

The suspect escorted the NAPTIP agents to the location where she dumped the victim’s body,

When police arrived at the location, they discovered the victim’s deteriorating body had been discarded in the jungle near Hezekiah Dike Crescent in Awka by the suspect.

The suspect had been turned over to the police by NAPTIP for additional investigation, and the victim was said to have passed away on September 29.

In the meantime, the offender, who acted out of rage, has been handed over to the police for questioning, according to the state police public relations officer, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the event.

The lesson is that we should use caution while furious and refrain from using physical punishment to discipline our children.

The state CID has received the case in the interim for individualised investigations.
